Editor’s Notes: nanamica continues its theme from last season, placing an emphasis on "roots" for SS20. The brand points out that the garments from the collection have roots that stand the test of time, as they will go on to be worn by men and women of all ages.
Standard colors like navy, black, beige, and brown are key in nanamica SS20, alongside classic sport colors in mustard and teal blue. Shirts are offered in shades of pale lime green, while knits boast a fade effect. Moving deeper into the seasonal collection you will find mid-season styles in smoky pastels of greyish blues, greens, and pinks.
While nanamica carries over the "roots" theme from the previous season, it also recreates basic items in similar fashion. The brand insists there are no catchy designs in the collection. The garments are, however, functional, albeit these details are often concealed. Here, chino pants draw from military pants of the 1940s and 1950s, and shirts are inspired by American office workers dating back to the '50s through the '70s.
Elsewhere in the SS20 collection we see club jackets and easy pants constructed from the brand's ALPHADRY fabric, made of fast-drying and deodorizing thread. These items can easily be worn together or as separates to complement other styles.
nanamica also makes use of GORE-TEX for the new season. The two-layer material, GORE-TEX PACKLITE PLUS, is noticeably thin and light, in addition to being waterproof, windproof, and breathable. This particular fabric is used on a rework of the French military smock parka, as well as the Short Soutien Collar Coat.
The SS20 collection is completed with artwork by Akio Onishi. The artist's designs are notably featured on an oversized windbreaker and soft woven T-shirt.
