As new competitors enter the streaming arena, Netflix is setting its sights on the relatively uncharted territory of scripted podcasting. Its first venture ,“The Only Podcast Left,” takes place in the world of its post-apocalyptic comedy-drama series, Daybreak.

Netflix explains the podcast will depart from the first season, following a group of teens who decide to make a podcast during an apocalypse.

According to Variety, Netflix will launch the 6-part series on  Spotify on November 7, where it will run until December 12, before becoming available on all other platforms.

While this is an untapped genre for the streaming service, scripted podcasts have been gaining popularity in recent years. Fictional podcasts such as. Welcome To Night Vale and more recently, Jenny Slate's Earth Break, have paved the way for Netflix's first foray into post-apocalyptic audio drama.
