Netflix has announced a new original series titled Sweet Tooth, based on the DC comic book series of the same name. It's being produced by Robert Downey Jr.'s production company.

Sweet Tooth is a coming-of-age tale about a boy-deer hybrid called Gus, who leaves home amid a cataclysmic event, then joins “a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.”

The series is based on writer and artist Jeff Lemire's comic book series. Sweet Tooth will star Christian Convery (Beautiful Boy), Nonso Anozie (Game of Thrones), Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick) and Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth), with James Brolin (Westworld) as the voice of the narrator.

Team Downey, the production company founded by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, is behind the pilot and will also be executive producing the series. Jim Mickle (In the Shadow of the Moon) and Beth Schwartz (Arrow) will serve as co-showrunners and writers of the eight-episode series.
