New Era

Governments around the world could take a cue from street style designers based on the sheer amount of collaborations announced in the past year. No brand is an island anymore and, while we’re on the subject of pieces of land surrounded by water, there’s a big collab brewing in the land down under. In an Australia exclusive, New Era and Champion have teamed up to release the New Era x Champion 19TWENTY capsule collection.

Despite the future-forward name, the limited-run collab is actually a big throwback to their respective design histories. The New Era Australia design team dipped into the archives to revitalize the classic style cues and materials that the label is famous for to create the collection. Of course, if there’s anything the streetwear market has taught us (besides how to style sneakers for literally every occasion), it’s that a limited-edition release by two iconic brands is sure to send enthusiasts into a frenzy — doubly so if that collection includes a super limited-edition fit. Enter: the New Era X Champion wool cap.

Dropping in a quantity of only 200 hats worldwide, the cap drew inspiration from New Era’s first on-field baseball cap: the New Era 8-panel. For this modern take on the classic fit, the brand wrapped it in a Heritage Navy Wool Pinstripe fabric and added sweatband plus tech for a headpiece that’s more than worthy of a flex for the ‘gram.

The collection is set to drop in Australia on Wednesday, December 12. For the launch, the two brands partnered with Highsnobiety to bring Melbourne’s most arduous street style aficionados out to cop the goods at an exclusive event hosted at local skate and streetwear mainstay, Doomsday Store.
