Nike's Most Legendary Strap-In Sneaker Returns to the Turf
In 2023, Deion Sanders rejoined team Nike after years of publicly stating that he'd never work with the sportswear brand again. In 2024, the minds (re)blessed the sneaker game with a coveted classic: the Nike Air DT Max 96 in its most iconic colorways.
And for 2025? It's prime time, forreal. During Nike's latest SNKRS Showcase, the label confirmed the return of the Sanders shoe that started it all: the Nike Air Diamond Turf.
Nike's Air Diamond Turf has lived quite a life. The sneaker was born a star in the 1990s, quickly rising to fame during its debut. It'd go on to have an even bigger moment during the 2010s as a street style must-have. Now, it's looking as legendary as ever for its 2025 re-launch.
Nike ensures the Air Diamond Turf will be in its "true-to-OG form" next year. So, expect all the traditional fixings and details from the icon, including its unforgettable midfoot strap (also seen on the DT Max 96 and its cleat versions).
Even more, the Nike Air Diamond Turf will re-release in its famous "Atlanta" colorway, a black, red, and white color scheme nodding to Sanders' days of famously playing football and baseball for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves at the same time.
Sanders' Nike Air Diamond Turf sneaker will kick off its anticipated comeback in Spring 2025, some say as early as February 2025 for the "Atlanta" colorway.
The Nike Air Diamond Turf is also expected to drop in a black and gold colorway dubbed "Signing Day," inspired by his 1989 NFL Draft Day 'fit. Sanders, who was a fifth pick for the Atlanta Falcons, appeared in sleek black leather look and a neck full of glistening gold chains, earning a spot in the all-time best-dressed-athlete hall of fame.
The heel of the "Signing Day" pairs features Coach Prime motivation: "You gotta believe." For the OG Diamond Turf heads, you'll probably need all the prayers and beliefs to score these historic sneakers.
