Nike's Revived '00s Running Shoe Doesn't Look Like a '00s Running Shoe
Nike's 2025 resolution? Be super fly...with the return of the Nike Air Superfly.
That's right. Nike is bringing back its Air SuperFly running sneakers from the early 2000s, and re-releasing it as a lifestyle shoe in the new year.
Nike Air Superfly hasn't changed a bit since its debut in 2001, maintaining its shockingly normal running shoe design over 20 years later.
When you think of Nike's running shoes from the early 2000s, the brand's most futuristically techy (and chunky) "dad shoes," like the Shox TL and Vomero, almost instantly come to mind.
On the other hand, the Air Superfly keeps things extremely simple in design, which was unusual for the era's experimental concepts. It has perforated leather uppers, a slightly raised Air sole (it looks pretty comfy, BTW), and a slim, low-profile look. And that's all, folks!
The Air Superfly already has the lifestyle look, quite literally resembling a track spike with everyday appeal. In 2025, the returning model will just act more like it.
Sha'Carri Richardson confirmed the Air Superfly's return as she laced up in a metallic colorway for a recent Nike campaign. "New Nike Women Air silhouette! Coming soon..." the track Olympian wrote in her Instagram caption.
According to sneaker leakers, the Nike Air Superfly will drop as early as January 10, 2025. In addition to the silver colorway worn by Richardson, Nike will release other bolder options like Triple Black, Lab Green, and all-red.
With 2025 just around the corner, Nike's sneaker lineup is already piling up with all-new sneakers like the Air Max DN8 and loads of Jordans for the anniversary.
Get ready to get "Superfly," too.
