Double Tap to Zoom
Nike
1 / 6

Nike's Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% is an eye-catching sneaker, there's no doubt about it. And while some have scoffed at the outlandish design, we are absolutely in love with what Nike has done with quite possibly the most in-demand running sneaker out right now.

Created to help Eliud Kipchoge run the first-ever sub-two-hour marathon, the Alphafly NEXT% has released in just two colorways since the long-distance runner set the (unofficial) marathon record on October 12, 2019. It appears Nike is prepping the release of a new colorway, however, as official photos of a bright orange pair have surfaced online.

The Alphafly NEXT% is recognized by Nike as the brand's premier racing shoe. The silhouette makes use of a new Flyknit called AtomKnit, which absorbs less water than most materials and offers a lightweight, contoured fit.

Below, you will find two streamlined Zoom Air pods in the forefoot that deliver unmatched energy return, while a responsive and lightweight ZoomX foam gives you added impact protection and cushion. A full-length carbon fiber plate then works together with the ZoomX foam and Zoom Air pods to deliver noticeable snap with each step.

Nike ultimately designed the Alphafly NEXT% to help runners achieve faster times. That's cool and all, but for the majority of us out there — the non-elites — we'd argue that's not really the point. Yes, the sneaker is outfitted with a slew of performance-specific tooling, but it just looks damn good, and that's what we're really focused on.

So, who honestly cares if the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% does or doesn't make you run faster? Let's just appreciate the beauty in the design.

Stay tuned for more on the upcoming orange colorway of the sneaker, which is expected to release soon.
