Paris: the city of love, light, baguettes, and Nicki Minaj memes. But this summer, it’s best known as the city of…The Olympics? Ooh la la. The international competition of superhuman athleticism has returned to our screens and has already blessed us with endless viral moments. First, Celine Dion’s triumphant performance in the rain on top of the Eiffel Tower set the bar pretty high. Next, Sha’Carri set the Internet alight with her custom sneaker corset. Iconic, dare we say. Then, we all fell in love with Kim Yeji. Her "gorpy" style really had us all in a chokehold for 3-5 business days which in Internet years, is a very long time.

As the Olympics return to fashion’s capital for the first time in over 100 years, it’s only natural we take a deep dive into la mode on and off the court, diving board, track, etc. Nicolaia Rips, self-described “Olympic fangirl” and certified purveyor of all things cool, gives us an inside peek into an Olympian’s wardrobe, an on-the-ground look at what Parisians are actually wearing, and an exclusive chat with the man, the myth, the legend himself, Devin Booker

This year, the Team USA fits go hard. First things first, a graphic tee—or two, or three. Nike serves up a dose of Americana with stars, stripes, and gothic lettering that’s giving Constitution but in the best way possible. For strolls around the Olympic village or capturing viral Team USA TikToks, we imagine the athletes are pairing them with a classic pair of Nike Basketball Shorts—red, white, or blue preferably. Brat green, move over. The true standout this summer is Total Orange, a Nike specialty and the key colorway of the Air Max Dn.

As Team USA racks up the medals, the Nike Medal Stand uniform has become quite a familiar sight. Athletes are sporting navy blue zip ups complete with mock collars and DRI-Fit tech paired with matching windbreaker pants—tiny belt included, rest assured, for that extra touch of je ne sais quoi

For those in Paris not rocking gold, silver and bronze, this summer’s fashion looks a little bit different. We headed over to the city center for a little style inspo. Naturally, we looked no further than the Cycloid Piazza, a multicolored structural skatepark at Centre Pompidou drawing skaters and skater lovers alike. The epicenter of street style during the Olympic games. And yes, you might just find inspiration for your next ‘fit. How to dress like a denizen? The answer: some combination of white tanks, knee-length shorts, ankle socks, and Nike sneakers. Accessories options include a vintage beanie, stacks of chunky silver rings, patchwork tats—or sometimes, just a cigarette. So french.

If you haven’t caught on yet, there seems to be a common denominator across Olympic fashion this year and the answer is Nike. Over its five decades of sportswear innovation, Nike has become synonymous with gold. Serena. Lebron. Kobe. The swoosh was their entry ticket to the highest podium. It almost makes you wonder…was it their natural athletic abilities that led them to gold? Or maybe, just maybe, that innovative Nike technology had something to do with it?

Here’s to hoping the winning pattern continues. Just like his fellow Olympic athletes and Pompidou’s French skaters, Devin Booker is repping Nike head to toe—in “Python” Book 1s, to be specific. His signature shoe has already taken over Instagram weeks before its September release. “First, come, first serve,” Booker says of the upcoming limited edition shoe. For fans looking to increase their chances of copping a pair, we have a tip: wear a Booker jersey around Paris and walk around like…a lot. Maybe say a prayer to the Olympic gods while you’re at it. Booker has been spotted vlogging and gifting pairs of the limited edition release to fans sporting his jersey in Paris. It could be you next.

En fin, that’s how you take the gold in style. As we tune into another week of athletic prowess, we’re feeling inspired in all the ways. Maybe we’ll pick up a new sport. Maybe we’ll find a new athlete to obsessively research on Wikipedia. Or maybe we’ll just learn to style a windbreaker in a new way. You’ll have to stay tuned for next week—who knows what’ll go viral next.
