This Super-Clean, Luxe AF Nike Air Force 1 Is Deeper Than "Triple Black"
Nike's Air Force 1 is one of the all-time classic sneakers, which is probably why it's constantly emerging in new colorways both deliciously understated and sublimely statement-y. The AF1 is such a good shoe that even when it's rendered in all-black, there's often more to meets the eye.
Meet the "Triple Black" Nike .SWOOSH Air Force 1, which goes even deeper than it's seemingly simple colorway may signify.
Nike's web3-aligned .SWOOSH imprint, not to be confused with its defunct NFT-leaning RTFKT label, doesn't make a lot of IRL sneakers. The whole platform is rather enigmatic and not terribly well-explained, despite the lengthy manifesto that accompanied its late 2022 launch.
But, when it does do shoes, .SWOOSH typically keeps things simple, focusing on classic shoes like the Air Force 1.
And what's simpler than an AF1?
Now, as simple as the Nike .SWOOSH "Triple Black" AF1 may seem, it's not that simple.
You see, though this shoe has all the trappings of an ordinary low-top all-black AF1, it's actually been quietly upgraded to match the understated ethos of .SWOOSH.
It'd make more sense in hand than, say, the overtly revamped .SWOOSH "404" AF1, which has more obviously been transformed.
But the all-black .SWOOSH AF1 is less obviously updated.
If you look, you can see that the uppers are cut from a tumbled leather that's a tad softer than the typical AF1 make, with a similarly meaty label on the tongue to match.
There's a Swoosh there, as well, matching some smaller and embroidered Nike branding towards the toe. On the heel, "SWOOSH AIR" text to remind you that is not your average all-black Nike AF1.
The shoe also comes with, of all things, a tiny Nike toothbrush to remind you to brush up on your kicks and keep 'em squeaky clean, indicating that this thing is more luxe than your average AF1.
To see for yourself, you'll likely have to sign up on Nike's rather obtuse .SWOOSH platform for a chance to grab the blacked-out Air Force 1 when it eventually releases for $130.
