Is It Time to Let Nike's Panda Dunks Go?
Pandamonium continues to grip Nike. Just when you thought "Panda" Dunk Low restocks were the peak of it all, the Swoosh revealed an upcoming mid-top variation. Oh, and did we mention consumers are camping out to cop pairs? Surely, it's time the madness ended.
Look, we're not about to hate on Dunks. Much like the Air Force 1, Air Max 95, Blazers, or Cortex, the humble Dunk is part of Nike's bread and butter. Without it, things just wouldn't be the same.
Over the years, Nike SB, in particular, has showcased the potential of the silhouette, delivering some of its most desirable looks.
It's safe to say the Dunk has a cult following, so much so that its revival was welcomed with open arms. What no one could predict, however, was how intense the frequency of releases and restocks would be. For many, Nike went a step too far, oversaturating the market to the point of exhaustion.
Now, the Dunk Low; in particular, the "Panda" iteration, is considered the new Air Force 1 thanks to the sheer number of them you see out and about – thanks, TikTok!
Since making its mark, the "Panda" Dunk Low has restocked countless times, making it one of the most present styles on global stress in 2022.
In a bid to mix things up a little, Nike dropped a follow-up in the form of a high-top, with a mid-top arriving in 2023 set to complete the trilogy. As fans of the "Panda," or more likely, resellers, have taken to camping out to secure restocked pairs, it's fair to say the madness has reached a fever pitch.
Surely, it's time to bring the "Panda" chapter to a close – Nike, let the streets breathe; they're gasping for air!
