Nike Is All in for Football Season & Other Sneaker News Worth a Read
Sneakerheads are bombarded with news of upcoming releases on a daily basis. To save you some time from searching each and every site and leak account, we've taken it upon ourselves to sift through the onslaught and bring you a few noteworthy kicks that have captured our attention.
Today, we get our first look at a new Nike SB Dunk Low colorway, one that pays homage to Spanish football club, Barcelona. It remains to be seen if the pair is a collaboration with the organization or a mere nod to Lionel Messi and company.
In other Swoosh-related news, Nike has another collab with Skepta on the way, but this one is a bit different. The grime legend is getting his own football boot in the form of the SK Phantom. Fans of the Jumpman can then look forward to a refreshing colorway of the Air Jordan 1 dropping this summer, as the iconic silhouette has emerged in a "Seafoam" iteration.
Elsewhere, Brooks is gearing up to release a revolutionary new running sneaker, called the Aurora-BL, while atmos and adidas are back at it with a new ZX delivery.
Read on to get the latest info about the Nike SB Dunk Low "Barcelona" and more.
Nike SB Dunk Low "Barcelona"
Release Date: TBC
Where to Buy: TBC
Editor’s Notes: Nike SB may be the brand's skateboarding division, but that hasn't ever stopped it from celebrating other sports. For this upcoming colorway of the Dunk Low, the Swoosh is recognizing beloved Spanish football club, Barcelona. While the sneaker is decked out in the club's signature colors, it bears no official FC Barcelona branding. Because of this, it's likely that the Dunk Low isn't a Barcelona collab but instead a mere commemorative pair.
Brooks Aurora-BL
Release Date: June 17
Where to Buy: Brooks
Editor’s Notes: Next month Brooks will be releasing a brand new runner, dubbed the Aurora-BL. A limited edition design from the BlueLine team — Brooks' innovation division responsible for small batch, avant-garde products — the sneaker features the brand's nitrogen-injected DNA LOFT v3 cushioning, which is inspired by gravity defying soft landings on the moon. The DNA LOFT v3 foam is designed to give runners softer, lighter, and more responsive landings, while the distinctive decoupled midsole encourages a more natural running motion.
Air Jordan 1 "Seafoam"
Release Date: August 12
Where to Buy: Nike and select retailers
Editor’s Notes: For sneakerheads that don't limit themselves to OG colorways, Jordan Brand has a new take on the Air Jordan 1 that may pique interest. The "Seafoam" iteration has emerged in a minty fresh look, pairing touches of light green with white to deliver a summer-perfect makeup. The lone complaint we've heard thus far is in regards to the orange laces. To that, we say go buy a different color. Per reports, the "Seafoam" Air Jordan 1 will arrive on August 12, although Jordan Brand has yet to confirm the release date.
atmos x adidas ZX 8000
Release Date: May 15
Where to Buy: atmos
Editor’s Notes: The latest release from atmos and adidas spotlights the ZX 8000. As a part of the bespoke series "G-SNK," the classic sneaker arrives in an eye-catching red and yellow colorway, with black accents. The collaborative pair will only be available through atmos, but you can go ahead and register for the lottery here.
Skepta x Nike SK Phantom Football Boot
Release Date: June 13
Where to Buy: Nike
Editor’s Notes: Skepta is crossing over into the world of football for his new collaboration with Nike. After previously working on the Air Max Tailwind V, the grime artist now sets his sights on the Phantom football boot. From the teaser, we see the shoe in a predominantly red and navy colorway, branded with a metallic Swoosh at the heel. Skepta's SK insignia is then present on the heel and footbed to further tag the pair.
