Nike's Tech'd-up Shox Sneaker Looks Even Better as a Rugged "Trail Shoe"
Nike's Shox Ride 2 sneaker is easily one of the nicer Shox models, perfectly balancing the Swoosh's outrageously futuristic tech with stylish colorways and materials. And somehow, the already-cool Shox sneaker just got better...and outdoorsy.
For the latest Nike Shox Ride 2, Nike prepares the model for the great outdoors — or at least, dressed the part. The newest Shox Ride 2 sneaker emerges with a trail-worthy look, complete with wear-resistant ripstop underlays and yellow hiking-boot-style shoelaces.
With these new outdoor-shoe-coded upgrades, I must confess: the Shox sneaker looks quite good as a "hiker."
And as if those rugged features weren't enough to make to make the hiking bros raise their eyebrows, the Nike Shox sneaker gets doused in this super nice and creamy "Light Bone" color. Finally, the model's traditional chunky sole, which greedily features both Nike Air and Shox tech, gets coated in black paint.
This particular colorblocking and design looks very similar to Nike's Vomero Roam "chunkster," the brand's winterized version of trendy dad shoe.
Nike turned its iconic Blazer sneaker into a wilderness-ready boot of sorts, while also dropping brand-new models like the weatherproof Cygnal boot and super nice Terrascout for kids. At the same time, the brand has turned its established outdoor shoes into stylish steppers, ready to beautify the trails.
Now, Nike's Shox Ride 2 sneaker has gone trail-esque mode.
On top of premium leather iterations and excellent greyscale versions, the Nike Shox Ride 2 has also enjoyed a previous "Light Bone" makeover with vibrant orange sprinkles. And the previous renditions were all great in their own ways, but they certainly weren't as ruggedly handsome as this latest take.
The newest Shox Ride 2 isn't expected until the spring season. In the meantime, I'd like to put in a special request for Nike headquarters: more of these outdoor-flavored Shox sneakers, please.
