This week Nintendo announces the followup to the Nintendo Switch with the Nintendo Switch Lite. Retailing for $200, the smaller device costs $100 less than the Switch base unit.
The Nintendo Switch Lite is designed exclusively as a handheld, meaning the Joy-Con controllers are built-in, and it cannot connect to your TV. The Switch Lite is noticeably lighter than the Switch, and some insist it feels more sturdy. The layout of the controller closely mimics that of the Switch, while it does not feature the Switch's kickstand. The Switch Lite's 5.5-inch touch display is marginally smaller than the Switch (6.2-inch), as it boasts the same 720p resolution.
Nintendo notes that there are no performance differences between the Switch and Switch Lite. You can utilize the same accessories with the Lite, including Joy-Con controllers and the Switch Pro Controller. The Switch Lite supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC.
Optioned in multiple colorways such as yellow, grey, and turquoise, as well as a light grey Pokémon Sword and Shield edition, the Nintendo Switch Lite releases September 20 for $200.
