Could the New Norse Projects Arktisk Runner Rival Salomon?
Norse Projects has been a leading name in Scandi minimalism for some time now. Neutral color palettes fill out the brand’s returning favorites: Oxford shirts, crewneck knits, and zipped overshirts. And while the Norse Projects that you know and love isn’t going anywhere, there is a new kid on the block.
Norse Projects Arktisk is the brand’s latest development, and it’s basically Norse Projects’ cooler younger brother.
Less focused on understated staples, Norse Projects Arktisk looks to function first. The 2022 debut collection is stacked with high-tech performance gear cut from PERTEX, GORE-TEX, and even Loro Piana wool. But in amongst the techy knits and massive down parkas is a pair of sneakers that’s quickly become a favorite of ours.
The Norse Projects Arktisk Lace Up Runner is a lightweight, waterproof, windproof sneaker that’s good for trails or a wintry city. The upper, build from diamond-structured ripstop nylon, is backed by a Hydro Gard membrane for total protection against the elements. TPU film to the toe and heel offers reinforcement and stability to the upper. A Vibram sole unit keeps you comfortable, supported, and grippy on all terrain.
There are, obviously, comparisons to be made here with the cult-followed Salomon XT-6. But while Salomon runners have hit peak popularity, the Norse Projects Arktisk Lace Up Runner offers more tech in a lesser-known package.
