Editor’s Notes: After showing up on the Brooklyn Museum staff's feet during the opening of "Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech" exhibition, the Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 "Brooklyn" sneakers are slated to hit the streets very soon.
On July 9, official images of the bright Green Spark kicks hit the internet, leaving many to believe an official release is on the horizon (and they were right).
Certainly, the release of the industrial green Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 fits the vibe for Off-White™'s previous AF1 collabs, all of which dropped in tandem with Abloh's corresponding exhibitions.
Remember Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 "Lemonade" and "MCA" both saw shock drops in conjunction with Abloh's "Figures of Speech" exhibits at ICA Boston and MCA Chicago, respectively.
The Brooklyn Museum plans to issue several FOS merch drops during the exhibit's run. However, the museum's Instagram confirmed the latest Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 would not be released through them.
Like the Lemonade AF1s — offered to Boston residents via SNKRS — the newest colorway will be left in Nike's hands.
I wouldn't be surprised if the sportswear giant again granted exclusive access to Brooklyn-based SNKRS members for the green Air Force 1s.
Ahead of Virgil Abloh's latest FOS installation, Denim Tears founder and Supreme's newest creative director Tremaine Emory teased the latest collaborative AF1 colorway earlier this year. Popular sneaker insider YankeeKicks then followed suit with on-foot looks at the forthcoming colorway.
Like its past iterations, much hasn't changed with the Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1, save its slime season-approved paint job. Customary Abloh design details remain intact, including the raw-stitched Swoosh, quoted "AIR," spongy tongue, and famed manufacturing zip-tip.
Still, any new Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 flavor — or anything Abloh-related, for that matter — is sure to get the hyped juices flowing.
