Long-time Palace heads will likely remember the first time the London label teamed up with Umbro back in 2012 for a nineties football-inspired collaboration.

In fact, it was Palace’s first-ever collab following its founding in 2009, and one that set the tone for the proceeding decade — one filled with countless more collaborations.

For a part of its Winter 2022 collection (and ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022) , Palace and Umbro are reuniting and once again honing in on those wild nineties jersey designs.

The short-sleeved tops — similar to those released back in 2012 — feature a “Cracked Ice” jacquard pattern overlaid with a digital print, with a contrasting black flat knit rib collar that’s been tipped with two colors and features a ticking stripe, and a cotton insert with buttons.

Palace-branded cuffs finish off each sleeve, while the archetypal nineties Umbro logo and Palace Tri-Ferg sign off each tee at the chest.

Matching Drill Top and Drill Shorts complete the concise capsule, the former featuring a rib insert at the neckline, as well as elasticated waist and sleeve cuffs for that added nineties touch.

"Our first ever collab’ was with Umbro, and the football shirts we made with them were some of the most banging and iconic pieces we’ve done. So we’re so happy to be revisiting the partnership again and putting a new spin on a classic product that we all love," Palace founder Lev Tanju told Highsnobiety.

The collection — which is set to land online and in-store November 18 — is captured around three equidistant and much-loved South London haunts, The Marquis of Lorne, Brixton’s Baddest, and Stockwell Skatepark.

Typically for Palace, Umbro is the latest in a long list of collaborators of late, including Y-3, Gucci, New Balance, and Engineered Garments.

While a barrage of controversy surrounds the impending World Cup (and for good reason), there’s absolutely no doubting the credentials of Palace and Umbro.
