PALLADIUM
1 / 3

How many brands make it to their first birthday? Not many. 10th birthday? Even fewer. 75th birthday? Only the best. Born in 1947, French label PALLADIUM is in the midst of celebrating 75 years of utilitarian footwear with a style-forward edge.

In its 75 years, PALLADIUM has connected people, places, and cultures across the globe as a symbol of durability, performance, and relevance. Beginning life on the feet of French Foreign Legion servicemen, PALLADIUM shoes have outfitted athletes, explorers, festival-goers, Pharrell Williams, and everyone in between.

For its birthday, the brand’s website and social media accounts play host to a range of storytelling moments, deep dives, retrospectives, and a capsule collection. The aim of all this archive digging? To explore the brand’s history in order to inform the future. While the short films are essential viewing, we think that the pieces that epitomize PALLADIUM’s 75th birthday are the three special capsule projects for Spring/Summer 2022.

Known for being a trailblazer when it comes to sustainable footwear, PALLADIUM looks back at 75 years of innovation with the PAMPA ECO-VERSARY. Building on the classic PAMPA style, this silhouette arrives with an eco-friendly update featuring earth symbols across an organic canvas upper.

This earth print featured on the brand’s original sustainable boots that launched in the ‘90s. Not only built from environmentally friendly and upcycled materials, PAMPA ECO-VERSARY is also dyed using pigments made from almond shell food waste and features speckled outsoles containing disused wood pellets.

First designed as a basketball and volleyball shoe, the PALLA LOUVEL was produced up until the 1980s. It provided maximum ankle support and grip in a lightweight package. Combine that with timeless, minimalist design ideals and you’ve got the perfect silhouette to revive for the modern day.

An added rubber toe cap, as well as a newly durable canvas upper, distinguish this contemporary update from its 1950s predecessor. That’s not to mention a range of bold new primary colors.
