Pat McGrath Is Selling the Secret to Her 'Porcelain Doll' Skin
Haven't moved on from Maison Margiela's Spring 2024 Couture show? You're not alone. Since Jonh Galliano's collection took the world by storm nine months ago, Pat McGrath — the legendary makeup artist who turned the show's models into glamorous "porcelain dolls" — has been working on bringing the otherworldly look to your living room.
On Thursday, Pat McGrath Labs unveiled Glass 001, a peel-off mask with an ultra-lacquered, glossy finish. While McGrath herself used a hodgepodge of products to create her instantly iconic Margiela look (she documented them all in an Instagram Live last year), Glass 001 is a one-step solution that even makeup novices can master.
To get the look at home, use a damp brush to apply thin layers of Glass 001 across your face, allowing each layer to dry in between. If you're a pro, Glass 001 can also be diluted with water and applied using an airbrush.
Removing the mask is just as satisfying as applying it. It peels off in one layer, an experience that will delight anyone who played with glue as a kid. (You know what I'm talking about.)
“Glass 001 is my love letter to the Maison Margiela runway," McGrath said in a press release. "It’s beauty reimagined for makeup lovers everywhere. Wear it, love it, make it yours.”
Launching online on January 30, Glass 001 retails for $38 — so those who can't quite afford a piece of couture can still turn the runway into a reality.
