ASICS' Latest Collaborator? P.E Nation
There’s something about a pair of ASICS that makes them instantly recognizable, even if they were derived from branding.
Clad with techy features and vibrant, contrasting pops of color, ASICS is a brand that manages to make combinations that shouldn’t work on paper, well, work.
Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov’s conveyor belt of ASICS releases are a prime example of the brand’s affiliation with futuristic and techy looks, with the designer often exaggerating archetypal such characteristics within each of his collaborations, much to the delight of his loyal following.
Kiko fans will likely be fans of ASICS’ latest link-up too, which sees the brand unite with Australian outfit P.E Nation for two takes on its GEL-1130 silhouette.
Layered with P.E’s enigmatic retro-sport lens, the sneakers arrive in “Cream/Black” and “Cream/Paperbag” colorways, equipped with textural components like wide mesh, a sustainable PU stripe, and smoke-cloud flashing.
“The GEL-1130 feels natural because it’s a classic shoe, but there was so much we could do with the construction,” explains Pip Edwards, co-founder of P.E Nation alongside Claire Tregoning.
“For me it was all about being able to create a shoe that was comfortable, functional and had performance capabilities whilst bringing in pops of color that is throughout the P.E Nation brand and our collections.”
The release – which is available to pre-order online now – is the latest in a long line of ASICS collaborations, after drops with the likes of atmos, BEAMS, and another dose of Kiko this year alone.
