A Vintage 911 Stars in Porsche & RIMOWA's Faux Spy Movie
Porsche & RIMOWA's 911-inspired luggage case is a big deal. So much so that the German luxury labels have co-created a faux spy thriller, of sorts, highlighting the slickness of their collaborative product.
Shot by Dimitri Basil across Germany and Los Angeles, the retro spy film comprises five distinct parts and all are exclusively premiering through Highsnobiety during the project's launch party on April 8.
Check out the hero trailer below and the rest of the clips following.
The Porsche x RIMOWA Hand-Carry Case Pepita is a tiny version of RIMOWA's signature rolling luggage, stripped of wheels and extending handle in favor of a slick shape akin to the briefcases toted by spies en route to their mission briefing.
Made in Cologne at RIMOWA's flagship factory, the Pepita cases were designed to slot neatly within the boot of Porsche — a 911, especially, which was the core influence for the collaborative case's design.
Appropriate indeed that a first-generation 911 stars alongside the collaborative luggage in the Porsche x RIMOWA footage.
Subtle details take that inspiration to intriguing heights, like the polished crest-shaped holders attached to the black leather straps that encircle the case — a quiet wink at the 911's traditional hood straps.
Inside, an X-strap that secures belongings and subtly references the 911's seatbelts while the houndstooth Pepita pattern that appears on 911 seats is found on the zipped U-pocket. Even the internal instructional label is rendered in yellow to recall the tag found inside the Porsche trunk.
A far less subtle (but no less suave) detail is the Porsche crest embedded into the case's facade, leaving no doubt that this piece of luggage is indeed a joint venture.
Only 911 Porsche x RIMOWA Hand-Carry Pepita Cases will be available when the collaboration launches on April 21, and interested parties can keep an eye on the rollout via RIMOWA's website
For the rest of us, well, we can enjoy the sights and sounds of Porsche & RIMOWA's spy game.
