PORTER's New Tanker Is Still the Same Great Bag (But Better)
Since its debut in the 1980s, PORTER's Tanker series has continued to be the star of the label's massive collection of bags. The Tanker bags reel fans in with its understated, sleek look, and it's also hard to ignore that unmistakable bright orange interior (even CdG and KAWS couldn't resist).
For 2024, PORTER decided to upgrade the icon. It was time for an "all-new Tanker," as the label puts it.
Nothing too crazy in regards to the "makeover." The new PORTER Tanker is basically the same classic bag wrapped up in a new and improved material.
Initially previewed in March, PORTER is now ready to deliver its new Tanker, made of 100% plant-based nylon. PORTER cooked up the new eco-friendly fabric alongside the material masters at Toray Industries, Inc., resulting in the Tanker's new "strong, flexible, and innovative" build.
Rest assured, the PORTER Tanker series remains true to its roots. While the plant-y nylon construction may be new, the Tanker bags still feature the practical trinkets that have made them a staple in the fashion world — gilded zippers, plentiful pockets, and functional buckles.
Classic PORTER models like the helmet bag, duffles, totes, backpacks, phone pouches, and wallets are all part of the upgraded series. Oh, and there will also be a PORTER Tanker 2-way document bag up for grabs, when the new Tanker series releases on May 25 (pre-orders launch on May 15, just F.Y.I).
As I write this, the fresh Tanker pieces are loaded on PORTER's website in many shapes and sizes, waiting to be unleashed into the accessory game.
