Following the successful reissue of the PUMA CELL Endura in October, the big cats are back at it again with the stunning rerelease of the 1998 classic CELL Venom trainers.

Updated with brand new materials and constructed using modern production techniques, PUMA’s reissue of the Venom celebrates 20 years of history since the initial drop of the iconic CELL line and taps into our collective incurable hunger for all things '90s. Can you taste the nostalgia?

Naturally, no PUMA reissue is complete without a modern twist (re: the updated ‘80s PUMA RS) that shreds the competition and marries fashion with function. Rest assured, these sneaks are no exception to the rule.

In typical PUMA fashion, the CELL Venom combines old and new by utilizing the same CELL cushioning that cemented the 1998 classics as the high-mileage trainer worth wearing on or off the track.

First released during the '90s visual technology boom, the CELL Venom sneaker utilized a series of thick TPU hexagons optimized to cushion the foot and maximize movement for high-mileage runs.

This iteration uses the same technology, but is updated with new materials and production techniques for a 21st century running shoe with a '90s soul. You’ll still find CELL cushioning tech firmly at the heel, alongside a breathable mesh upper with suede and leather overlays resting comfortably on top of the EVA midsole and rubber outsole.

In terms of appearance, you can expect the classic white with velour blue stripe on the updated line, along with that signature chunky design that turned heads back in 1998… ya know, when The Big Lebowski was in theaters. By fully embracing the burgeoning chunky shoe trend, PUMA continues to stay current in a world where some of the most influential people were born way after the inaugural launch of the CELL line.

For PUMA, revisiting its iconic '90s running archive is one of the many factors ultimately contributing to its wildly successful trajectory, with a rising sale trend that shows no signs of quitting. Now worth more than four billion Euro, PUMA continues to hold its place as one of the top sports brands in the world.

What’s next for the brand? With a mixture of reissues and brand new drops, PUMA keeps its fans guessing while simultaneously tapping into a seemingly unquenchable hunger for nostalgia.

The CELL Venom drops on December 6th online at puma.com, select retailers, and PUMA stores across the globe. What’s an OG PUMA gem you want to see reissued? Let us know down below and pray the PUMA gods are watching.
