If you’re an All-Star Weekend spectator or follow trainer to the stars Chris Brickley on Instagram, you’ll no doubt already know that J. Cole’s skills extend to the hardwood, too. The 6’2 rapper has a history in the sport, even earning a position as a walk-on at Division-I school St. John’s University — a position never utilized as Cole prioritized his music career. With a Detroit Pistons try-out under his belt, too, J. Cole has a good argument for being the strongest rapper on the court and he's got the kicks to match.

While at first glance it might seem weird that one of the hottest, performance-focused basketball sneakers around right now is the signature design of a rapper, it actually makes perfect sense. Using PUMA, a burgeoning power in the world of basketball apparel, as the frame, the RS-Dreamer Proto caters to performance and style in equal measure, and it was never intended for release.

Originally a prototype colorway, the RS-Dreamer Proto was a secret until recently, and it may never be released again. The clean white mesh upper is highlighted by pink, green, and blue hits to the sole unit and upper. The outcome is a utilitarian sneaker, complete with ProFoam midsole and RS foam cushioning to the heel, which makes an impact with retro visuals too.

One of the first looks at the RS-Dreamer Proto came when J. Cole sat courtside as the Brooklyn Nets beat his home-state Charlotte Hornets. Styling the silhouette with a relaxed tracksuit fit and Dreamville socks, Cole showed the off-duty styling possibilities of the design and we're sure — given the chance — he’d have shown out on-court, too.
