Very few brands embody the communal mindset of 2020 like Random Identities. Not only does this brand deal in chaos (of which 2020 has seen an inordinate amount) and the order that opposes it, it’s built to provide a space where people can confidently understand and define for themselves the new codes of gender shift. The name Random Identities epitomizes the label’s stance: Random connotes the unpredictability and randomness of existence, while Identities refers to the ways in which we, as humans, seek to find order in the universe’s chaos.

Founded by Stefano Pilati in 2017, Random Identities comes as Pilati’s first solo venture having previously held position as the Head Designer for Yves Saint Laurent and Ermenegildo Zegna. As such, Random Identities stands as a fresh start for the designer, and a place for him to test the exciting new boundaries of fashion as the power shifts away from the old guard. The label exudes a refreshing, authentic energy that’s hard to ignore, Pilati explains: “That is my starting point and the core of my project. If I don't feel it, I won't do it.”

On the heels of Random Identities Fall/Winter 2020, which just dropped, we thought it was only right that we rounded up some of our favorite pieces from the collection. From contemporary tailoring to classic outerwear, the collection takes heavy inspiration from the archives of military style, brimming with uniform greens, camos, and technical details.
