Nobody’s Doing Workwear Like Randy’s Garments
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Randy's Garments absolutely bangs.
From duck canvas station jackets and double-snap vests, to utility pants and brushed cotton shirts, the New York-based label’s progressive take on traditional workwear has been a breath of fresh air since its inception.
Now presenting its seventh collection for Fall/Winter 2022, Randy’s Garments – which describes itself as pairing American spirit with quality construction – has dropped arguably its most progressive collection to-date, and it’s available online now.
For those familiar with the brand, its fabric-first approach this season will come as no surprise.
Heavy all cotton matched sets are boastfully understated and constructed out of imported Japanese Twill, while a robust 12oz duck canvas arrives treated with Durable Water Repellency (DWR).
Denim, as always, plays a major role. Indigo American denim – woven by Mount Vernon Mills – has been left in its most versatile state, which means it's up to the wearer as to how it washes, fades, breaks in, and evolves throughout its duties.
The term “workwear” can, in many cases, be bandied around a little easily for my liking. Yet when it comes to Randy’s Garments, its credentials undoubtedly ring true. Where others may cut corners or skrimp on the finer details, Randy’s Garments excels.
For me, that’s where the beauty in a brand like this lies. They aren’t imitating, nor are they reinventing the wheel, yet they’re arguably leading the way when it comes to doing the essentials well, which is never a bad thing, especially as we step foot into fall.
