What the Internet Is Saying: An overwhelming majority is not really feeling the experimental READYMADE design on the Blazer Mid, though @jeykeyaitch.psd spits facts when he said: “No one likes them but they’ll go out of stock in 2 seconds.”

What We’re Saying: Yuta Hosokawa’s label, READYMADE, gives Nike’s first basketball sneaker a remix, tapping into the Japanese brand’s signature deconstructed, DIY approach.

The first thing to catch our eye is the wonky Swoosh, which is longer and thinner than the one we have come accustomed to on Nike sneakers. As the brand shares, READYMADE’s version is a take on Nike’s 1971 version.

“We deconstructed the Blazer and recreated it without losing sight of its DNA,” Hosokawa says. “I have been playing basketball since I was in third grade. The first pair of shoes I bought for myself were Nikes. That’s how I came to like fashion.”

Keeping with READYMADE’s upcycling philosophy, 15 percent of the sneaker’s sole is made using Nike Grind, which is a mix of recycled materials originating from Nike manufacturing scrap and worn-out sneakers.
