For his Fall/Winter 2022 show, Rick Owens returned to Paris’ Palais de Tokyo to exhibit a new season of drama-fuelled style. But while it’s usually the gothic, draped silhouettes that bring the drama, for Fall/Winter 2022, it was fog. Models wandered the runways carrying their own personal fog machines, and you can bag your own in the SSENSE sale for just $3570.

We’ve spoken at length about the fact that accessories are a pivotal part of an outfit; a place that rewards experimentation, allowing you to level up your looks with a simple piece of jewelry or a bag. We hadn’t foreseen the arrival of personal fog machines, though, we’ll say that much.

Made in Germany — the home of all good fog machines, obviously — the Rick Owens Fog Machine features a bold gold finish. Not that you’ll see much of it when it’s shrouded in Owens-branded vaporized fog.

One big consideration for all those lining up this machine as their tote-bag replacement is that the Rick Owens Fog Machine weighs almost 6 kilograms, making it less than ideal in terms of portability.

With a retail price of $5250, prospective fog machine owners will be glad to know that it’s available for $2940 right now in the SSENSE winter sale.
