Rihanna, Pharrell, and Cardi are among the celebrities sharing messages of support to communities in the Bahamas left devastated by Hurricane Dorian. NPR reports that the hurricane strengthened into a catastrophic Category 5 storm on Sunday.

According to the BBC, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis has put the death toll at seven, adding added: “We can expect more deaths to be recorded. This is just preliminary information.” He called the hurricane, “one of the greatest national crises in our country's history.”

On Monday, Rihanna tweeted that together with her Clara Lionel Foundation, she was pursuing means to assist those affected by Dorian. The Government of Rihanna's native Barbados is also pledging assistance to the Bahamas.

In recent months, celebrities have been particularly vocal about humanitarian crises and forthcoming with financial aid. Most recently, the Leonardo DiCaprio-backed Earth Alliance committed $5 million to assist communities affected by the Amazon wildfires. Rihanna has already been recognized for her efforts. In 2017 she received a humanitarian award from Harvard for founding an oncology and breast cancer treatment center and a scholarship program for the Caribbean and South American students attending universities in the US.

But Rihanna isn't the only celebrity sharing her support in the wake of Dorian. Cardi B, Pharell, and Rick Ross all responded to the natural disaster. See their reactions below.
