Discerning travelers will now have the perfect accessory to accompany them with RIMOWA’s first-ever eyewear collection. Their foray into eyewear is a natural evolution of the functional luxury appeal RIMOWA's cultivated over the years with its aluminum cases, and the first step of its planned diversification into new categories outside of luggage.

The RIMOWA Eyewear collection launches July 9th with two unisex sunglasses lines — RIMOWA Bridge and RIMOWA Rim — and an optical range called RIMOWA Air. The collection shares similar design motifs found on its world-famous luggage and feature three classic shapes: aviator, square, and pantos. Each style comes in several colors that also match select RIMOWA suitcases for the ultimate travel ensemble.

"At RIMOWA, we have a long history of evolving alongside travel. As industry trends shift, we find it increasingly necessary to cater to our clients' needs beyond the moment in their travel experience that necessitates luggage," explained Alexandre Arnault, head of RIMOWA, in a statement to Highsnobiety. "With these thoughts in mind, we’ve been carefully developing our first-ever eyewear collection for over a year, scrutinizing and translating our brand values of craftsmanship and innovation into an exciting new product category."

The RIMOWA Bridge is crafted from two pieces of acetate overlaid and held together by metal pins, recalling RIMOWA’s trademark industrial rivet details. The minimalist RIMOWA Rim features slender temples in a palladium finish with discreet nods to the brand’s signature grooves. And the RIMOWA Air is a lightweight optical range crafted from metal and nylon that’s designed for everyday wear, no matter where you’re going.

The RIMOWA Bridge and Rim collections drop July 9th at select RIMOWA stores worldwide and online at RIMOWA.com, retailing between $350-400. The RIMOWA Air optical range will be available at select opticians globally.
