Ronaldinho: Part-Time Brazilian Footballing Legend, Full-Time Style Icon
It’s been nearly a decade since Ronaldinho retired from football, but it will take centuries before people forget his legacy.
The World Cup-winning Brazilian footballer is one of the most skillful, exciting players to ever kick a ball. And his legendary status is being solidified in fashion.
Nude Project, a Spanish streetwear label, is the latest brand to tap R10 for a collaboration, even getting the ex-footballer to pose in their campaign for the collection.
Honoring the former Barcelona attacker, the collaboration features images of Ronaldinho plastered across knit sweaters, T-shirts, and printed jeans.
There’s even an NBA championship-esque ring celebrating the footballer.
The vast collection, which includes some more subtle odes to the footballing legend, comes after Ronaldinho recently walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week.
KidSuper, whose founder Colm Dillane is a well-documented Ronaldinho stan, got the 44-year-old to model as part of its Fall/Winter 2024 show.
And the brand also has a similar range of Ronaldinho-themed merch — printed jeans, jerseys with archival Ronaldinho images, full matching tracksuits… the KidSuper x Ronaldinho collab has the lot.
Factor in that Nike recently turned Ronaldinho’s signature white and gold Tiempo boots into a pair of sneakers or that he’s been rubbing shoulders with Corteiz founder Clint Ogbenna, and you see that R10 has some serious streetwear status.
And it runs in the family, his son recently modeled for Manchester-based streetwear label Drama Call.
Post-retirement from football, Ronaldinho has lived many lives. He’s launched an e-sports team, spent time in a Paraguayan prison, and has toyed with a move into politics. His newest chapter sees him become increasingly intertwined with the fashion world.
