Editor’s Notes: NYC-label Rowing Blazers has turned to another NYC institution for their latest collaboration — John's of Bleecker Street. The pizzeria was founded in 1929 by John Sasso who originally opened shop in Greenwich Village, before relocating to Bleecker Street in 1934.
Steadfast review aggregator TripAdvisor has ranked John's as the 10th best pizzeria in the United States. Meanwhile, Highsnobiety's sneaker and sportswear editor Fabian Gorsler confirms it's "top notch" and an "upper echelon pizzeria because of its longevity and cult status."
The enthusiasm for the beloved pizzeria is shared by Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson, "As a regular, I always enjoy sitting in the main dining room and watching the neophytes come in and say 'Let me get two slices of --,' only to be interrupted with John's motto: 'No slices.'"
As a rule, John's only sells pizza by the pie, a generous portion size reportedly rarely regretted.
Carlson continues, "John's is, among other accolades, also the most consistent pie in New York. Perhaps that's the result of the incredible team, which includes many who have been at John's for decades. You can spot them, because they're wearing John's gear with vintage versions of the pizzeria's logo...We've collaborated with the amazing folks at John's to recreate some of this vintage apparel with the original logos. They're old-school and look almost bootleg. But they're not. This limited-edition capsule is the real deal -- just like John's of Bleecker Street."
Rowing Blazers x John's of Bleecker Street includes a signature RB rugby shirt, a hoodie, a crewneck, a T-shirt, and a dad cap ranging from £40-£180.
