Salomon's Tremendous Trail Clog Is Back & Now It's Got Teeth
Salomon has a knack for kicking out killer clogs, though its specialty will always lie in terrific trail shoes as technical as they are slick. But what if Salomon designed a sneaker that did both?
Finally, Salomon's Snowclog shoe is back in action, newly revived as part of the style-conscious Sportstyle imprint.
Salomon's Snowclog is not an all-new design, though its latest iteration is nearly unrecognizable from the shoe that came before.
You can find older Snowclog shoes on various secondhand sites and compare the differences at a glance.
Salomon's Snowclog was once an Oakley-adjacent design, a rugged laceless slip-on realized in suede atop a tonal outsole and branded with Salomon's swirly logo. After that, it became a very elderly slide-in sneaker-shoe in mostly tonal colorways, very Merrell in design.
However, the 2024 Snowclog looks downright mean.
Atop a similar but more emphasized sole unit, the new Salomon Snowclog is sleeker and backless for even easier entry, made of mesh paneling that's inherently more breathable but likely to be insulated for utility's sake — these things are called "Snowclogs," you know.
The new Snowclog also wears no-nonsense Salomon branding on its upper and will be available in two tough iterations: shades of cream and intimidating dark grey.
Compared to the sportier laceless shoes that Salomon typically turns out, the Snowclog looks like an entirely different animal entirely
But this is all part of a recent uptick in slip-on technical shoes that even goes beyond Salomon itself. This new wrinkle doesn't feel planned but is hardly unwelcome: Who needs laces?
