Samsung Debuts $650 iPad Pro Rival With 10.5-Inch Galaxy Tab S4
Samsung has introduced its next flagship premium tablet with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, a 2-in-1 Android tablet designed to help users do more on the go anywhere.
Starting off with specs, the new tablet boasts a large 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with slimmer bezels compared to last year's Tab S3, while it's equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB or 256GB of internal storage (expandable up to 400GB via microSD), a 7,300 mAh battery, four speakers tuned by AKG, front and rear cameras (13MP AF + 8.0MP with flash) and an Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.
The company is promising up to 16 hours of battery life, and with the absence of a home button due to its slimmer design, iris and face scanning are available as authentication options, in addition to the usual passcode input.
With productivity in mind, the new Tab S4 comes with a refined S Pen which allows users to doodle, navigate, translate, and take notes on the fly. Additionally, it's most notable feature is when paired with docking station Samsung DeX (sold separately), offering users a PC-like experience that allows them to multi-task.
When connected to the optional Book Cover Keyboard (sold separately) or launched from the Quick Panel, the Galaxy Tab S4 powers on Samsung DeX, giving users the option to switch from the Android interface to a desktop experience. Users will be able to launch multiple desktop-style windows for your Android apps, including the Microsoft Office suite, directly on the Galaxy Tab S4, and re-size them when needed, in addition to drag and dropping content between apps, along with utilizing keyboard shortcuts for efficiency.
Furthermore, there is an option to extend Samsung DeX to an external monitor with a compatible HDMI to USB-C multi-port adapter (not included). When connected to the Galaxy Tab S4, the device can serve as a track pad or a sketch pad.
The Galaxy Tab S4 officially goes on sale starting August 10 on Samsung's website and retailers worldwide, with the Wi-Fi only 64GB model retailing for $649.99 USD, and the 256GB option priced at $749.99 USD.
Samsung will also offer an LTE-equipped model that will be available at Verizon on August 10 as well, in addition to US Cellular and Sprint in Q3 2018.
Pre-orders begin August 9 on Samsung and if you place your order between then and September 8, there is a 50% discount off the $149.99 USD Book Cover Keyboard.
