Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip5 Is More Than a Flip Phone—It’s a Drip Phone Too
On Wednesday, Samsung opened up a glimmering new pop-up in Berlin in partnership with Highsnobiety to kick off the launch of their latest phone model, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5.
The pop-up took place on Berlin’s famous Unter der Linden, where guests explored a techno-chromatic world of maximalist aesthetics, interactive digital experiences, and product displays. Those who take the chance to catch the pop-up (which is open until August 23) will be among the first in Germany to get their hands on the brand-new device.
The space was transformed into a time and place somewhere between Y2K and Y3K—a cyber café wherein guests lounged across retro-futuristic decor and plugged into flip phone terminals. Inside, guests were handed a radiantly pink glass of sparkling rosé to sip while they finally got to the main event: the brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The event space was glittered with Swarovski crystals, no less. Considering both Samsung and Swarovski’s commitment to craftsmanship and design, the two powerhouses have come together to make a case especially for the phone, as well as for the Buds2Pros, and Watch6 strap.
Right away, one is drawn to the phone’s distinctive flip phone body. Despite having been on the market for several years now, Samsung’s unique bending screen technology never fails to impress those who encounter it. The flipping form of the phone’s body allows one to film as if holding a camcorder, and it’s impressively sized screen lets anyone review and edit their memories with ease. Those who are familiar with the model will note that the latest version has a seamless closed gap, and folds perfectly flat onto itself. Samsung fans with buttery fingers can rest easy, too, as the phone’s Aluminium Armour frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coating should mean the phone is fairly drop-resistant. One of the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s main selling points, its unique ability to take the perfect group shot, was particularly popular at the pop-up. Selfies were taken, good times were had—could you ask for much more?
But the fun didn’t stop there. Along with experiencing the brand new phone, guests could enjoy a tooth bedazzling station and glittering hair accessories by artist Janina Zais, sample Y2K-inspired vegan nibbles courtesy of Chateau Royal, and tunes spun by DJ Meg10 (hoe_mies), Half Queen and JADA KYLO too. A pop-up launch as nostalgic as it is forward-facing, those in attendance saw just how good things are once you’ve joined the flip side.
