Who: Shia LaBeouf

The outfit he’s wearing: A vintage satin Chicago Bulls warm-up jacket, a vintage hat, worn-out jeans, and Nike Cortez sneakers.

Location: SoHo, New York City

Why it works: LaBeouf, who has been laid low recently when not promoting his upcoming film, Honey Boy, uses different fits to plays with silhouettes. The vintage jacket is oversized and tucked into his much tighter-fitting pants, which are cropped high over low-top Nike Cortez sneakers. This creates a contrasting effect, making it look like each part of his outfit is separate from the next, allowing each piece to stand out.

Editor’s notes: Shia LaBeouf has once again shown why he’s considered a style icon by many in the streetwear community, Kanye West included. While out in SoHo, New York, LaBeouf was wearing an outfit that, at first glance, looks ordinary but somehow still managed to catch our eye.

The actor paired a quarter-zip vintage Chicago Bulls warm-up top with a pair of cropped skinny jeans that, judging by the dust build-up, are probably vintage. Either that or LaBeouf just finished knocking down drywall. Completing the outfit was a pair of well-used Nike Cortez.

With retro, ’90s sportswear experiencing a rise in popularity over the past few years, LaBeouf’s choice in jacket makes complete sense. Of course, there are contemporary takes on retro sportswear you can buy from various brands, such as Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God, although the iconic red and black of the Chicago Bulls is hard to beat.

A vintage-looking cap and an unkempt beard round off an outfit that has a thoroughly vintage — almost patchwork — feel to it.
