Skrillex's Return Single "Midnight Hour" Is the Year's Weirdest House Track
Is "Midnight Hour" the song of the summer we've been waiting for? We'll admit, we're surprised at awarding such a superlative on Skrillex, but the EDM legend's first official single in two years is an undeniable earworm. Enlisting the services of R&B secret weapon Ty Dolla $ign and Berlin-based producer Boys Noize, "Midnight Hour" is a jarring but seductive odyssey that functions as a late night jam and a strobe-lit house delirium simultaneously. Take a listen below:
"Midnight Hour" follows 2017's "Would You Ever" in Skrillex's discography, though the producer has indicated that this is the first of several bits of new material we can expect this year. As per usual, Ty Dolla $ign has crooned his way around a host of new releases this year, most recently appearing on such tracks as Megan Thee Stallion's "Hot Girl Summer" and A$AP Ferg's "Floor Seats."
But for Boys Noize, "Midnight Hour" marks the second excellent release in as many days; the producer lent his talents to A$AP Rocky's new single "Babushka Boi," the rapper's first output since this summer's lengthy detainment in Sweden.
