Slime Green Is Colorway Goals for Spring
Chartreuse? Lime? Neon? You know, the kind of green that looks almost radioactive — the color that Billie Eilish asks for when she visits a hair salon and points at her roots.
Following on from our olive color story for fall, this toxic shade of green is our palette goal for spring. We've rounded up some of our favorite products from the likes of Acne Studios, Nike, adidas, Jacquemus, and more to zap your wardrobe and accessory game with a fluorescent kick.
Take the AMBUSH crewneck sweater, for example; an oversized wardrobe staple that will liven up any outfit. The loudness up top might call for some plain/neutral pants (perhaps Dickies or Levi's), then you can revisit the color again on foot via some silver/slime green accents on the Nike P-6000.
Pantone's Creative Director for Europe, Jane Boddy tells Highsnobiety her thoughts on the colorway: "Slime green sits within the trends towards fantasy and futurism; its digital brightness has as an almost retro futuristic look, like entering an ’80s arcade game. It's sour and cold and clashes in an interesting way with the uptrending tones like white, cream, beige, gray, and black. It also works really well with lilacs and softer tones. It's not about bright on bright!"
