Double Tap to Zoom

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games are in full swing, with formidable athletes from all across the globe competing for medals in the French capital's summer heat.

Just short of the final days of competition, StockX and us thought it'd be fun to conceive of, say, more creative ways to support your Team's pursuits.

What better way to communicate your sympathies than by subtly nodding to a country through the billboard that is an outfit? Who needs flags when you can have a fresh pair of kicks to support your favorite Olympians?

Not to mention how much more use you'll get out of nice shoes, far past Sunday's closing ceremony, than loads of cheap patriotic memorabilia.

Sneakers to Let Your Freak Flag Fly

Australia

Right off the back, an anomaly. Australian athletes tend to perform in green and gold uniforms, rather than colors of their national flag, that'd more closely resemble schemes of the UK and USA – and that's the point. Next to cultural and historic significance, it's also a matter of distinction.

Brazil

With Brazil's identical combination though, we're back in more traditional territory. The flag matches the colors they're typically dressed in.

If only BAPE had traded the star for a maple leaf's motif, we'd have an actual Canadian sneaker on our hands.

China

This one not only alludes to the Chinese flag, it was literally made in celebration of the Air Jordan brand's 25th anniversary in China.

France

How lucky for France that they're not just this year's host country, but also share their colors with what is currently the hottest sneaker on the market.

Germany

With its black base, and touches of gold and red in the sole, these kicks pick up Germany's colors without being too on the nose.

Mexico

As if made to be, this sneaker's name mirrors the namesake's color scheme. Could be Italy though, too, to be fair. Your call.

Nigeria

The white and dark green of these Nikes are a great reference to Nigeria, but make for a shoe that is very easily wearable for no other reason than looking good.

UK

The UKs colors are amongst the most common on this list – and in general. So, we opted to assign it a shoe that was similar enough, but not immediately discernible as such.

USA

... An approach we quickly cast aside once we came across these babies.
