'Stranger Things' Creators Confirm There Will Be Justice for Barb
Stranger Things took the internet by storm last month with its nostalgic ’80s references and charming cast. It's safe to say, of the shows many great characters, Barb drew a particularly short straw. Spoilers ahead.
Serving as Nancy's overprotective carer, she's forced into a situation she wished to avoid, abducted by a monster, and, unlike Will, forgotten. However, the internet wasn't so forgetting, launching the #JusticeForBarb hashtag and prompting a response from show creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
Matt told IGN, "Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it."
Shannon Purser, the young actress who plays Barb, expressed her gratitude in a tweet but unfortunately, when asked if the character would return in season two Matt responded, "I can’t see it happening." Instead, they'll explore the repercussions of what's happened so far, including Barb's disappearance.
Matt also hinted the show's villain, Dr. Brenner, may not be dead — “I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner… He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there’s a possibility of seeing him again.”
