What We’re Saying: Todd Snyder’s New Balance collaborations have long been tasteful reinterpretations of classic silhouettes. Some have been more popular than others, but they have largely flown under the radar somewhat — especially when compared to some of New Balance’s other collaborators.

This latest link-up sees Todd Snyder take on the ever-popular 992, which was subject to a series of high-profile collaborations last year, including co-branded efforts with Kith, JJJJound, Joe Freshgoods, and more. Todd Snyder’s take features a duck camo base with tan overlays and an all-white mid- and outsole combination. The result is an outdoorsy look that balances more subtle tones with the pop of camouflage.

“The idea for this sneaker grew out of a number of inspiration trips I had been taking to Maine while working on the lodge I designed at Hidden Pond Resort in Kennebunkport,” says Snyder. “And I wanted to try translating the pleasures of outdoor life and the elements of classic outdoor field clothing into a gentleman’s running shoe. The name ‘From Away’ comes from the fact that when you spend time in the state, you realize locals are Maine-ahs, and everyone else is From Away.”
