The release day for the Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low is finally upon us.

The shoe was first teased by Scott in his JACKBOYS music video, as well as on his Instagram feed and story several times over the past few months.

Scott is a self-proclaimed fan of Nike SBs, having worn some of the rarest Dunk lows such as the Nike SB Dunk Low “Freddy Kruger” and the “Paris” samples in the past. With his strong ties to Nike, it was only a matter of time before the brand’s most marketable collaborator got to design his own pair.

Why the Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low matters

A lot has been made of the Nike SB Dunk revival over the past 18 months, though it’s only been recently that the silhouette has gained a foothold among sneakerheads again. Once one of the most popular types of sneakers in the mid ’00s, the value and popularity of the sneaker dropped sharply as other styles such as basketball sneakers and runners saw an uptick in hype.

Now, though, spearheaded by Travis Scott’s love for the silhouette, the Nike SB Dunk is well and truly back. Like his Jordan Brand collaborations, the Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk will likely be one of the hardest cops of the year.

Editor’s Notes: After months of leaks and teasers, Travis Scott’s new Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration surprise-dropped last weekend via a raffle on La Flame’s official webstore.

The highly-anticipated drop officially releases today and is only be available via select skate shops worldwide. The drop, surprisingly, is not available via Nike’s SNKRS app (SNEAKRS in Europe).

Judging by images shared online, it looks like there are two separate shoeboxes, one with a bandana print that was available via Travis Scott’s site and a multi-colored one that is available via certain retailers. Travis Scott also dropped skate apparel and accessories alongside his sneakers.

Travis Scott was first spotted wearing the sneakers in his JACKBOYS music video and later teased the Nike SB Dunks on Instagram in December 2019. Check it below.
