Vans' New Skate Sneaker Comes in a Dapper Boat Shoe's Body
Skating has never looked more sophisticated, thanks to Vans. The skateboarding brand has dreamed up another dressy shoe ready for the ramps, this time a skate-able boat shoe.
A skate-able boat shoe? Yes, you read that right. But are we surprised? Vans has been turning just about any footwear style into a skate shoe, from Wallabee-style shoes to even full-on mules crafted with normal skate fixings.
The Vans 2 Eyelet is here to keep the tradition. Up top, the Vans shoe looks like a classic boat shoe with Vans branding, equipped with 2 eyelet details and ropes looping around the shoe's "deck."
Vans slaps its traditional vulcanized rubber sole on the bottom of the shoe, making it genuinely skate-ready and promising a strong, flexible boardfeel.
Already, HOUYHNHNM has taken Vans' 2 Eyelet shoe for a spin. The collaboration celebrates the fashion magazine's 20th anniversary and involves two colorways featuring exotic reptilian textures and hairy toe boxes.
How to make the Vans boat shoe an even wilder concept? HOUYHNHNM answers with its crocskin Vans boat shoes, which, by the way, finally launch this Saturday, October 26.
Vans also has produced a couple of general release options for the 2 Eyelet, realized with tasteful leather and offered in classic brown and black colorways.
The in-line Vans 2 Eyelet shoes are only available at a few overseas retailers. But maybe with a few prayers and wishes, Vans will share its sophisticated skate shoe with the world.
