Even Vans' Classic Skate Shoes Have Gone Waterproof
Vans' answer to the GORE-TEX sneaker craze? Don't beat them. Join them with waterproof skate shoes.
Vans has transformed its classic Old Skool skate shoe into into an all-weather-ready beast complete with a GORE-TEX build.
Granted, Vans has its MTE shoes, which are essentially all-weather footwear based on the brand's iconic skate shoe models (and they usually feature GORE-TEX constructions).
However, the latest GORE-TEX Old Skool is surprisingly just Vans (no MTE). The beloved skate shoe has been updated with a quietly premium and rugged design ready for even those rainy days. Get caught in a surprise shower during an outdoor sesh? The GORE-TEX Old Skools will keep you dry.
In addition to being ready for whatever weather, the Vans Old Skool GORE-TEX sneaker also features smooth suede touches, luxuriously slick details, and new cushy foam insoles.
The best part — other than its new practical makeover — is the preservation of the classic Old Skool look. The sneaker is still the same ol' Old Skool, which has transcended beyond the skate park and cemented itself as a street-style icon that lives on. Except now it's ready for bad weather days, too.
Vans' Old Skool joins a string of sneaker icons gone weatherproof. Nike recently toughened its V2K Run dad shoe and Air Force 1 Lows with GORE-TEX makeovers. At the same time, adidas took its Gazelle from great to rugged with the popular material.
For those wondering, the Vans Old Skool GORE-TEX sneaker is now available at Vans, and it even comes in the OG black and white colorway. See, I told ya. Classic Old Skool, just better (and tougher).
