Westside Gunn's New Album ‘Pray for Paris’ Is a "Masterpiece"
Westside Gunn just dropped his new album titled Pray for Paris. The project, which he dubbed "rare art" and a "masterpiece" on Instagram, features a number of huge names including Wale, Joey Badass, Tyler the Creator, Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Joyce Wrice, Keisha Plum, Cartier A Williams, Boldy James, and Billie Essco, as well as production by DJ Premier, Alchemist, Daringer, DJ Muggs, and Jay Versace.
The album premiered on Virgil Alboh's Twitch channel last night; a fitting debut given Westside reportedly made the album in just two days after he was invited by Abloh for his Off-White fashion show.
The album release comes days after the rapper detailed his horrifying battle with the coronavirus. Taking to Twitter Gunn wrote, “I have a confession to Make I’m a Corona Survivor,” he wrote. “I didn’t want anybody feeling sorry for me I had to thug it out for weeks I didn’t get to see my kids I went to the hospital feeling like I was breathing my last breath the fans and the love I was getting kept me strong.”
In a now-deleted Instagram post, he went into greater detail: "I didn’t get to see my kids I went to the hospital feeling like I was breathing my last breath the fans and the love I was getting kept me strong I knew I had to drop this (upcoming new album) Pray for Paris bc GOD have bigger plans for me."
