Matthew McConaughey Is a Father Battling the '80s War on Drugs in 'White Boy Rick'
Columbia Pictures releases the first official trailer for upcoming crime thriller, White Boy Rick, starring Matthew McConaughey.
Directed by Yann Demange, the film is set in 1980s Detroit, and is based on a true story of a blue-collar father (Matthew McConaughey) and his teenage son (Richie Merritt), who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer, but whose life quickly spiraled downward after he was abandoned by his handlers.
Written by Andy Weiss and Logan & Noah Miller, the film also stars Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brian Tyree Henry, Rory Cochrane and more. White Boy Rick is slated to hit select theaters for a limited release on September 14, before a wider debut on September 21.
