A collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME and NEIGHBORHOOD is already a historic moment, a coming together of two Japanese fashion titans. But for their latest collaboration, they’ve drafted another legendary name into the mix.

Ian Brown, lead singer of The Stone Roses, the British band that spearheaded the Madchester movement in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, fronts the two brands' latest campaign — 61 years old and with his trademark shaggy hairstyle grown out and pinched back behind his ears.

For Shinsuke Takizawa, NEIGHBORHOOD’s founder, this will be an especially prized moment. Takizawa bases his brand around subcultures and rock music, now he’s got a certified British cultural — and musical — legend in his campaign. And one that isn’t known to model for other brands.

Building on Yohji Yamamoto and NEIGHBORHOOD’s previous releases, the collaborative goods sported by Brown focus heavily on boldly branded streetwear staples (hoodies, T-shirts, sweaters, etc.) alongside new renditions of the distressed jeans and rose-printed bomber jackets from FW23.

But most exciting is the collection’s other piece of outerwear, a parka jacket layered under a detachable military-style liner jacket (the opposite way to how these two jackets are normally worn).

Beyond its interesting layering, the parka jacket’s subcultural status in Brown’s Manchester hometown makes this the collection’s hero piece (at least, in my opinion).

Everything Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME (the brand's top-tier menswear line) and NEIGHBORHOOD has cooked up is set to be released on December 6.

The Japanese streetwear OG and master of the avant-garde strike again.
