Zellerfeld Made the 3D-Printed Nike Air Max of the Future
Of course, the Nike Air Max 1000 doesn't look anything like the Air Maxes that came before it — it wasn't made in the same way.
Produced together with 3D printing sneaker company Zellerfeld, known for producing futuristic-looking sneakers with everyone from Kidsuper to Louis Vuitton, the Air Max 1000 has been crafted with Zellerfeld's signature printing technology.
"As an innovator, what's most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing," said John Hoke, Chief Innovation Officer at Nike.
"It's control, times precision, times expression — all of which are vital to sport and to design. When those variables of control, precision, and expression are multiplied at once, the future of our product really does feel unlimited."
The all-red sneaker comes with a sleek look: a laceless build with clean edges carved into its body. These carvings are meant to replicate the paneling found on a typical sneaker and mark the break between woven and smooth textured finishes.
The Air Max 1000 is set to debut at ComplexCon this weekend via the Air Max 1000 Experience. However, Nike is yet to reveal when the sneaker will be available to shop (if it's ever brought to the market, that is).
This sneaker rounds off a big 2024 for Nike's signature Air Max line. This year, Nike debuted its most advanced Air Max yet, the DN, and there are rumors of the model getting an air bubble-filled upgrade next year, in the form of Nike Air Max DN8.
As Nike's revenue has slumped, there have been calls for more innovation from the American sportswear giant. Well, the Air Max 1000 is nothing if not innovative.
