Harry Styles doesn't have to do much to get his fans salivating but he's truly done almost nothing at all to get Twitter going this time. On February 1 — Harry Styles' birthday! — an ultra-minimalist necklace set Styles fans' timelines on fire, for some reason.

It can't be understated how little there is to see here: it's a photo of Styles and a fan, with the singer dressed comparatively plainly save for a tiny, barely visible pearl necklace.

Despite the lack of presence, Styles' necklace took off across social media.

Perhaps the most unusual thing about Styles' look is how understated it is. Normally, Styles is dripping in jewelry or styled in some intentionally exaggerated outfits.

Even his "casual" looks scream "HARRY STYLES": who else is wearing crocheted shirts with nothing underneath?

Speaking of nothing though, there's not much going on here. This may be the least newsworthy Harry Styles outfit ever, in fact, because it's soooooo normal.

But, then again, that in and of itself is kind of a style moment itself, in so far as Harry Styles not dressing like Harry Styles is sort of interesting.

At least it certainly is to his fans.

The exaggerated reactions to Styles' necklace may have been part of his birthday fervor or perhaps it was just stan culture doing its thing but, whatever the case, it inevitably provoked some light mockery from other folks on Twitter.

Thing is, nothing is really as funny as Harry Styles' non-existent necklace making the news, really.
